Marcum Bernstein & Pinchuk’s Co-Managing Partner Attends International Vatican Conference in Rome for Adult Stem Cell Research
New York City – Drew Bernstein, Co-Managing Partner of Marcum Bernstein & Pinchuk (MarcumBP) attended a special conference held in Vatican City, Rome from November 9 – 11, hosted by the Stem for Life Foundation, the non-profit foundation of NeoStem, Inc., and the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Culture to expand research and raise awareness of adult stem cell therapies. NeoStem is an international biopharmaceutical company with a focus on cell based therapeutics development and Mr. Bernstein serves as a member of NeoStem’s Board of Directors and is Chairman of the firm’s Audit Committee.

Mr. Bernstein joined other NeoStem board members and constituents in attending this special event in support of Dr. Robin L. Smith, Chairman and CEO of NeoStem, and President of the Stem for Life Foundation. The three-day conference, entitled, “Adult Stem Cells: Science and the Future of Man and Culture” featured keynote speakers, panel discussions, patient case studies, video, and breakout sessions, to create greater awareness of adult stem cells and their applications, explore the latest research and developments in the field, and discuss and debate the implications for the future of culture, medicine, religion, and public policy. In addition to the formal conference program, a special audience with Pope Benedict XVI was also arranged.
