NEW YORK, July 1, 2026 – Marcum Asia CPAs LLP ("MarcumAsia"), a leading SEC auditor for Asian companies accessing U.S. capital markets, today announced that Hirohisa Kato, JICPA, has joined the firm as Partner in the Strategic Development Department, effective July 1, 2026.
Mr. Kato brings more than 30 years of experience in audit, IPO advisory, and cross-border accounting services, with a career spanning Japan, the United States, and international capital markets.
A licensed Japanese Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Kato began his career with Deloitte Japan in 1993 and spent nearly three decades with Deloitte's Japan and U.S. practices. During his five-year assignment in Deloitte's Dallas office, he developed extensive experience with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements before returning to Japan, where he later served as Audit Partner, Group Partner, and Managing Partner of Deloitte's Kanazawa office.
Throughout his career, Mr. Kato has advised companies listed on major stock exchanges across Japan, the United States, Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore and has extensive experience working with IFRS, Japanese GAAP, and U.S. GAAP reporting frameworks.
He also brings significant experience supporting companies pursuing public listings and cross-border transactions, including Nasdaq IPOs, foreign private issuer filings, IPO readiness assessments, valuation matters, and SEC comment letter processes.
Representative engagements include advising companies listed on Nasdaq, the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the Korea Exchange, the Taiwan Stock Exchange, and the Singapore Exchange, as well as supporting companies pursuing U.S. public offerings and international expansion strategies.
Mr. Kato's appointment comes as MarcumAsia continues to expand its presence in Japan following the opening of its Tokyo office and the continued growth of its Japan Practice.
"Since opening our Tokyo office and expanding our Japan market initiatives, we have seen growing interest from Japanese companies exploring engagement with U.S. capital markets and international investors," said Drew Bernstein, Co-Chairman of MarcumAsia. "Hirohisa's combination of Big Four experience, U.S. market knowledge, and deep understanding of Japanese business culture further strengthens our ability to support Japanese companies as they navigate cross-border opportunities and capital markets transactions."
Mr. Kato added, "Japanese companies are increasingly evaluating international growth opportunities and looking beyond their domestic markets for capital and strategic expansion. MarcumAsia has established a strong platform supporting Asian companies accessing U.S. markets, and I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of the firm's Japan practice."
As Partner in the Strategic Development Department, Mr. Kato will work closely with MarcumAsia's leadership team to support strategic growth initiatives in Japan and strengthen relationships across the Japanese business and professional communities.
